Cal Finishes 5th Overall

Tonight was the final night of competition of the PSAC Championship.  Going in to tonight the Vulcans were in 6th place.  The Vulcans finished the meet in 5th place overall.  West Chester took home the win for both men and women.


The night began with Geeorgia Emert in the 200 yard backstroke.  Emert came in 6th place with a time of 2;07.73.


Following the backstroke was the 100 yard freestyle which featured Rachel Kurta in the consolation heat and Melissa Gates & Ester Bosch in the final heat. Kurta swam a time of 54.40 finishing 15th. Bosch swam a time of 52.21 in 4th place and Gates swam a time of 51.13 finishing in 3rd place.



The last two individuals of the night featured Caitlyn Sirkoch and Bruna Carvalho.  Sirkoch swam the 200 yard breaststroke in a time of 2:29.46 finishing in 11th place. Carvalho swam the 200 yard butterfly in a time of 2:11.76 finishing in 8th place.



The Vulcans topped the night off with the 400 yard freestyle relay. The relay team of Melissa Gates, Rachel Kurta, Kelly Geras, and Ester Bosch finished in 3rd place with a time of 3:31.25. 



The Vulcans qualified six swimmers for the NCAA Championship meet that will be held in Canton, Ohio.  The National team of Melissa Gates, Georgia Emert, Ester Bosch, Rachel Kurta, Kelly Geras, and Caitlyn Sirkoch will continue to train for the next two weeks. The meet will be held on March 10-13.
